Avanzamos hacia una tendencia diferente: de inventariar la información en una base de datos y ordenarla con el mejor criterio posible que responda a la relevancia de la misma, pasamos a la tarea de extraerla, refinarla teniendo en cuenta lo que el usuario puede estar buscando en función de diferentes factores, presentarla en una interfaz adecuada y servirla a quien la busca. Una batalla diferente, que se anticipa muy seria. Y sin duda, una tendencia que habrá que tener en cuenta a la hora de diseñar cualquier sistema que pretenda ofrecer información.

Very few traditional organizations truly understand how important all this is. The Internet is a tsunami of gigantic proportions that has washed over all of us. It has changed how we live and work. It has made us feel more empowered, more informed, more connected. Using a search engine has become a daily activity for millions.
Yet, how many organizations professionally manage search? How many dedicate the appropiate numbers of employees to focus on helping their customers (and fellow employees when it comes to an intranet) find the right content quickly? Very, very few.
